The 250P and 275P were prototype cars used during the early half of the 1960s, design based off of the 250TR which was highly successful in the latter half of the 1950s.

Ferrari 250P

The Ferrari 250P was introduced in 1963, marking Ferrari’s first foray into mid-engined sports racing cars. Designed by Mauro Forghieri, it featured a tubular space-frame chassis, double wishbone suspension, and a longitudinally-mounted V12 engine producing 310 bhp. The 250P quickly proved its prowess by winning several prestigious races in 1963, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans, 12 Hours of Sebring, 1000 km Nürburgring, and the Canadian Grand Prix. Notable drivers such as John Surtees and Ludovico Scarfiotti were instrumental in these victories.

Ferrari 275P

In 1964, Ferrari introduced the 275P, an evolution of the 250P with a larger 3.3L V12 engine. While retaining the same chassis and many components from the 250P, the 275P featured slight modifications to the bodywork. This model continued Ferrari’s dominance in sports car racing, winning the 1964 24 Hours of Le Mans and setting a distance record for the race. The 275P was driven by Nino Vaccarella and Jean Guichet, leading Ferrari to a 1-2-3 finish at Le Mans in 1964. This model is celebrated for its historical significance and engineering excellence, solidifying Ferrari’s legacy in endurance racing.
